[Oil lamps] ROMAN. North Africa. Pottery redware oil lamp. Circa 350-425 AD. Length 14.5cm. Mold-formed with pottery appliques on discus and shoulder, the central motif of the Triumphant Christ: nimbate standing Christ transfixing serpent with long cross, basilisk and lion below, two angels flanking him. Shoulder with six squares (A4), six circles (G2), two triangles (D3). Pyramid of impressed annulets on spout channel, two vent/fill holes, spur handle. Cf. Ennabili 59. Choice condition, sharp details and smooth burnished surfaces.
