Nansen, Fridtjof. Armenia and the Near East.(London, 1928). 324 pages, 27 photographic illustrations, fold-out map. The famous Norwegian Arctic explorer and diplomat led a League of Nations commission on a tour of Armenia in 1925, assessing its situation after the Turkish conflict and its re-conquest by the Soviet Union. In a bit of historical trivia, one of the other commission members was Vidkun Quisling, later the Nazi puppet leader of Norway (shown with Nansen in several of the photos).
