SASANIAN KINGS. Bahram II. AD 276-293. AV Dinar (7.20 g, 3h). "The Mazda worshipper, the divine Bahram, the king of kings of Iran who is descended from the Gods" in Pahlavi, crowned bust right; \ behind crown / “Fire of Bahram” in Pahlavi, fire altar with attendants. Göbl I/1 (same reverse die as plate coin); cf. Saeedi 20-22; Alram 715. Near EF. Rare.

The two previous examples offered by CNG (Triton IX, lot 1222 and CNG 69, lot 870) share the same dies as this example. The shared reverse die of the Göbl plate coin with all of these coins suggests that the size and duration of this issue was quite small.
