SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Antioch. Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. Æ 26mm (15.93 g). Laureate head right; legends partially retrograde / Large S C within laurel wreath of eight leaves; S C aligned upside down. Cf. RPC I 4247; cf. Butcher 46. Near VF, pale green patina, patina rough on edge.
This interesting coin exhibits a fine style portrait consistent with other coins from this issue, yet the partially retrograde obverse legend and the misalignment of the reverse suggests that it may be imitative.
