PHOENICIA, Arados. Circa 246/5-168/7 BC. AR Tetradrachm (28.5mm, 17.06 g, 12h). In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Dated CY 45 (215/4 BC). Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; palm tree in left field, AP monogram below throne, 45 (date, in Phoenician) and [ŠT (in Aramaic)] in exergue. Duyrat 1245–6 var. (D24/R– [unlisted rev. die]); Price 3385; DCA 771. Lightly toned, minor die wear. Good VF. Extremely rare date, only two recorded by Duyrat (both in museums [London and Munich]), one additional in Pella (also in a museum [Amsterdam]), none in CoinArchives.
