THRACE, Aenus. Antonine Period. AD 138-192. Æ (19mm, 3.88 g, 1h). Draped bust of Hermes right, caduceus behind / Asclepius standing facing, head left, leaning on serpent-entwined staff. RPC IV.1 Online 10029; AMNG 405a. Green and red patina. VF. Very rare.

Varbanov notes that Aenus (Ainos) only struck coins during the reign of Caracalla but RPC places this coin during the Antonine period. Varbanov did not list any coins from this city without imperial portraits.
