Trajan. AD 98-117. Æ Sestertius (32mm, 23.52 g, 7h). Rome mint. Struck circa AD 107-111. Laureate bust right, slight drapery on far shoulder / Single-span bridge across river; arched tower at either end, surmounted by statues; boat below in river. RIC II 569. VF, green and brown patina, smoothed and tooled.

This reverse is thought to represent a bridge over the Danube constructed under the direction of Apollodorus of Damascus, Trajan’s master engineer, who also designed the emperor’s famous forum.
