215, Lot: 498. Estimate $100.
Sold for $60. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Fausta. Augusta, AD 324-326. Æ Follis (18mm, 1.93 g, 6h). Londinium (London) mint, 1st officina. Struck AD 324-325. Draped bust right / Empress or Salus standing facing, head left, holding two children; PLON. RIC VII 300. Near VF, dark green patina, some roughness.

From the J.S. Vogelaar Collection.

RIC does not mention a pellet within or above the doorway. The ‘dot/PLON’ mintmark was discovered and presented in the Pierre Bastien sale in October 1982 (Münzen und Medaillen 61). Lot 620, a follis of Crispus, features a pellet above the doorway and this usage of an additional mark is seen as a separate emission.
