Steatite scarab. Egyptian-Canaanite, Second Intermediate Period (1640-1550 BC). Base decorated with symmetrical hieroglyphs, back is unusually decorated with 16 small kheper beetles. Length: 16mm. See NFA 11 Dec 1991, lot 105 for a similar back decoration. Chipped on back (erasing 2 small beetles) and light crack on base. Rare and interesting.
