DENMARK. Albert Thorvaldsen. Sculptor, 1770-1844. Æ Medal (44mm, 61.02 g, 12h). By Gottlieb Goetze. Struck circa 1826. ALBERTVS THORWALDSEN, facing head / Winged Genus kneeling left, holding model of the Three Graces and sculptor’s tools; all within wreath. Forrer p. 287. EF, brown patina, very minor deposits.


Forrer considers this medal to be Goetze’s finest work, noting that it, “exhibits uncommon skill of execution; the drawing is good and the style very bold.”
