2nd Intermediate Period. Circa 1650-1550 BC. Steatite scarab (17x12mm). Base engraved with signs of power and protection. Large chip on back, smaller chips around edge of base, once glazed, pierced for mounting.

The line of discoloration on the back indicates the scarab was mounted in a swivel ring and is the result of friction on the wearer’s skin.
