Ancient Near East. Hellenistic Period. 3rd-1st centuries BC. A pair of gold earrings (4.7cm; total weight: 20.84g). Each with hollow-formed loop, decorated with filigree pattern and four teardrop-shaped bezels, each holding garnet stone; opposite ends ornamented with a shield set with a small garnet and raised disk. A bronze pin attaches the loops to their pendants, each composed of opposing pattern of triangles decorated with lines of granulation; above, an alternating pattern of hollow beads and garnets set within teardrop-shaped bezels. Good condition, but with some damage and loss, particularly on the pendants.
