Julius Caesar. 49-48 BC. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.83 gm). Military mint traveling with Caesar. Elephant standing right, trampling on serpent / Simpulum, sprinkler, axe (surmounted by a dog's head), and priest's hat. Crawford 443/1; CRI 9; Sydenham 1006; RSC 49. Near VF, toned, reverse a little off-center.
