TRIBAL CURRENCY. Africa, Congo Kinshasa. Spherical copper ring legband (22 cm diameter x 12 cm wide). Used by the Jonga, Hamba, Nkutshu, Monog, and Mbole in marriage transactions and to purchase access into the secret Nkum’okunda society. The large copper anklets were formed by a blacksmith hammering a single ingot of copper into shape. Ballarini 5.58. Standard shipping rates do not apply.
