PHOENICIA, Ace-Ptolemais. Last half of the 1st century BC. Æ (21mm, 8.90 g, 11h). Dated CE 15 (35/4 BC). Laureate head of Zeus right; within wreath / ΠTOΛEMAIEΩN, Tyche standing left, holding apluster and cornucopia; LIЄ (date) to right. Cf. RPC I 4744; cf. Seyrig 22 (for type). Unpublished. Cf. RPC I 4741 and DCA 748 for a similar coin of Antony and Cleopatra with the same date. Dark green-brown patina with red earthen highlights. VF. Very rare and unpublished. Seyrig and Kadman knew of a similar type for Marc Antony but not dated to Cleopatra. |
