POTTERY. Cypriot. Geometric Period III. 850-750 BCE. (130 mm tall x 100 mm wide). An oinochoe with flat foot and bulbous body with sloping shoulder leading to squat neck and trefoil spout. A handle extends from the back of the spout to the shoulder. Painted dark red glaze decorates the body and shoulder in two main registers and bordered areas. Starting at the center of the body, 4 lines form a lower border. A lower register presents a row of paired triangles that face each other. They are hatched inside. Above, a register of long, vertical triangles surround the shoulder, bordered at the top with two lines. . Minor loss of glaze. Chips on spout and encrustations on handle also present. |
