POTTERY. Magna Graecia. Apulia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (75 mm tall x 250 mm wide). An Apulian kylix with a shallow, wide bowl set on a squat simple foot. Two handles extend from either side. Vine patterns adorn both the external wall of the bowl and the internal border of the bowl. The inner vine surrounds a swan with its head down standing facing left. A double line surrounds and frames the bird. Extensive patina present over the entire example. Reassembled from fragments with some paint touch up visible. A large piece with all fragments present. |
