IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG PM TR P P COS III, laureate head right / IMPERATOR CAESAR, S C across field, Vespasian standing facing, wearing military attire, head left, nimbate, holding branch and scepter. RIC II.1 80 (R3; this coin cited). Dark green patina, heavily smoothed and tooled, area of fill on reverse, hairline flan crack. Good VF. This example was cited by Carradice and Buttrey in RIC II.1 and was the only example they knew of. A second example in lower grade was sold in Peus 433 (1 November 2022), lot 1476. |
