PISIDIA, Selge. Circa 400-325 BC. AR Stater (24mm, 10.61 g, 10h). Two wrestlers grappling; monogram between / Slinger in throwing stance right; to right, eagle standing right on astragalos; all in pelleted square border within incuse square; five countermarks placed neatly around perimeter (counterclockwise from right: goat crouching left with head right, avian standing right with raised wings(?), three pellets, figure with bow advancing left, and boar standing right). Cf. SNG BN 1917 (for series); SNG Pfälzer 327 var. (letters); otherwise, unpublished in the standard references. Toned. VF. Extremely rare, none in CoinArchives, nor Asia Minor Coins website. |
