Gordian III. AD 238-244. AR Denarius (19.5mm, 2.92 g, 12h). Rome mint, 1st officina. 7th emission, mid AD 240. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Diana Lucifera standing right, holding flaming torch with both hands. RIC IV 127; RSC 69. Bright surfaces. Near EF.

Diana Lucifera, the Light-bearer, is a moon goddess. She appears on Roman issues as a young woman carrying a torch or wearing a crescent on her head.
