ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. Circa AH 40s-72 / AD 660s-691. Æ Pashiz (24mm, 0.94 g, 7h). Arab-Byzantine type. Imitating obverse of Heraclius. Uncertain mint in Fars or Khuzestan. Facing busts of Heraclius (older) and Heraclius Constantine (younger), both wearing chlamys and elaborate crown with cross; cross in field above; pseudo-legend around / Figure standing facing; 3-line Pahlavi legend to right, the first reading y’nbwt´ (= “Gyānbūd”), the other two likely blundered. Malek, Arab-Sasanian 1541–2; Gyselen 80; Album 43B; ICV –. Brown surfaces, some roughness. VF. Very rare.
