216a Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. AR Denarius (18mm, 2.67 g, 12h). Uncertain eastern mint. 1st issue, AD 222. IMP SEV ALEXAND AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / P M TR P COS, Mars standing left, holding branch and inverted spear; star to lower left. RIC IV 262; BMCRE 1007-8; RSC 201a. Lightly toned. VF.

216b Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. AR Denarius (18mm, 2.66 g, 6h). Uncertain eastern mint. 1st issue, AD 222. IMP SEV AL EXAND AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / LIBERTAS AVG, Libertas standing left, holding pileus and vindicta; star to left. RIC IV 285 var. (bust type); BMCRE 1012-3 var. (same); RSC 149 var. (same). Light peripheral toning. Good VF.
