Theodore II Ducas-Lascaris. Emperor of Nicaea, 1254-1258. AR Trachy (26mm, 2.68 g, 6h). Magnesia mint. The Virgin Mary enthroned facing, holding head of the Holy Infant on lap; (MP) ΘV across upper field, Δ on cushion to either side of Virgin / Theodore enthroned facing, wearing stemma, divitision, loros, and sagion, holding labarum-tipped scepter in left hand, globus cruciger in right. DOC 8; SB 2140. Light graffiti in margin on obverse. Near EF. Extremely rare, none in CoinArchives. Attractive in hand.
