Dated 1484. • : SIGISMVnDVS ARChiDVX AVSTRIЄ :, crowned, draped, and armored bust right, holding globe-tipped scepter and resting hand on hilt of sword; floral stops / Armored knight on caparisoned horse right; (date) below; coats-of-arms around. While their designs ‘are in some respects still medieval’ the half guldiner and full guldiner of Archduke Sigismund represent for Grierson ‘a new stage in the history of European coinage’ in terms of their weight and design, heralding the multitude of taler issues in the century to come.
