SELEUKID EMPIRE. Antiochos IV Epiphanes. 175-164 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 16.36 g, 12h). Contemporary imitation of Ekbatana mint issue. Diademed head right / Apollo Delphios, testing arrow and resting hand on grounded bow, seated left on omphalos; to outer left, head of horse left. For prototype: cf. SC 1539 and 1541–42; cf. HGC 9, 618. Lightly toned, a few minor flan flaws, light scratches on reverse. VF. Very rare.

Purchased by the consignor from Frank Kovacs (his ticket included).
