M. Fannius C.f. 123 BC. AR Denarius (17.5mm, 3.96 g, 9h). Rome mint. Helmeted head of Roma right; X (mark of value) below chin / Victory driving galloping quadriga right, holding reins and wreath. Crawford 275/1; Sydenham 419; Fannia 1; RBW 1097; see “The adjustment al marco of the weight of Roman Republican denarii” by Clive Stannard in Metallurgy in Numismatics, Volume 3 (RNS Special Publication No. 24, 1993), pl. 1, 4 (this coin illustrated). Toned, a few light scratches, parallel striations or metal flaws on the obverse. Good VF.
