The identification of the portrait on this issue is traditionally given to Athena (though Greenwell was hesitant), but S. Hurter’s analysis of the type concluded that it is more likely the depiction of a young warrior (see S. Hurter, “Eine Notiz zu Kyzikos: Krieger oder Athena?” in SM 227 [September 2007]).
