The Triumvirs. Octavian. Late 41 BC. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.62 g, 6h). Military mint traveling with Octavian in Italy. Bare head right / Equestrian statue of Octavian galloping left, his right hand extended. Crawford 518/2; CRI 299; Sydenham 1317; RSC 227; RBW 1802. Light toning, bankers’ marks, punch mark and scratches, reverse slightly off-center. Fine. Rare.

The reverse of this rare type depicts a now lost equestrian statue of Octavian erected upon his return from the wars with Brutus and Cassius.
