THESSALY, Pharsalos. Late 5th-mid 4th century BC. AR Hemiobol (8mm, 0.46 g, 1h). Helmeted head of Athena right / Head of horse right within incuse square. Lavva –; cf. BCD Thessaly II 657 (obol); HGC –. Slight roughness. VF. Well centered. Extremely rare denomination for issue.

Hemiobols of this type are published for the earlier, mid-late 5th century issue with the horse head in a deep incuse square and a different helmet on Athena (Lavva 37a–40), but not the subsequent issue with spread flans and a nearly imperceptible incuse.
