SICILY, Solous(?). Late 4th-early 3rd centuries BC. Æ (13mm, 2.51 g, 11h). Head of river god(?) left / Forepart of horse left. Campana –; CNS III p. 275, 31 A H 74 (uncertain mercenaries); HGC 2, 1256 (Solous). Green patina. VF. Very rare.

The attribution to Solous in HGC is predicated upon a reading of the legend on the reverse as Kefra (in Punic), the Phoenician name of the city. However, on the very rare pieces where any of the ethinc is visible (it is missing on msot examples, as here), it is inconclusive whether this reading is correct.

Closing Date and Time: 10 March 2021 at 10:14:20 ET.

All winning bids are subject to an 18% buyer’s fee.
