JUDAEA, Ascalon. Legio X Fretensis. Æ (16mm, 4.25 g, 12h). Countermark applied late 1st century AD(?). Large X in a square incuse on an Æ from Ascalon (Tyche/Galley). Howgego 735ii for countermark; cf. Hendin 1610-11 for type and countermark. Dark reddish-brown patina with touches of green, minor roughness. Host Good Fine, countermark VF.
