SELEUKID EMPIRE. Antiochos III ‘the Great’. 222-187 BC. AR Tetradrachm (28mm, 16.60 g, 11h). Uncertain mint 56, in western Asia Minor (Sardes?). Struck circa 203–197 BC. Diademed head right / BAΣIΛEΩ[Σ] ANTIOXOY, elephant advancing right; monograms to left, M to right. SC 985.2; Houghton, Elephants 7 (A1/P4); ESM 630 (same dies as illustration); HGC 9, 451a. Lightly toned, some die wear, light marks. Good VF. Extremely rare with these markings, only one example published (in the BN; referenced by Houghton and ESM), with one additional in CoinArchives.
