Set of two (2) New York Numismatic Club American Numismatic Association Convention Medals in Sterling Silver (38mm, 29.63g, 12h) and Bronze (38mm, 25.50g, 12h). • THE • NEW • YORK • NUMISMATIC • CLUB • around, ORG • DEC/ 1908 in two lines to lower left, reverse 1: two arms and hands, carefully holding a coin by its edges in left hand, a magnifying glass in right / AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION ORGANIZED 1891 around, ANA Seal with early style ancient lamp. Edge of the silver medal: CONV. N.Y. 1910 STERLING WHITEHEAD-HOAG. IoC p. 233. The silver medal has satiny silver surfaces with light toning, some toning freckles on the bronze. Otherwise, about as struck. No serial number on the silver medal. Serial number 49 on the bronze medal. Two (2) medals in lot.

Erlanger wrote, “They are fairly numerous in bronze, but only very few exist in Silver.” In fact both are rare today, the silver outstandingly so.
