LOCAL ISSUES, Silk Road Region. 5th-8th centuries AD. AV Bracteate (24mm, 2.62 g, 12h). Imitating a Sasanian issue of Vahrām (Bahram) II, with Queen and Prince (Circa AD 255-310). Jugate busts of Vahrām (Bahram), wearing winged crown with korymbos, and his queen, wearing kolah with boar’s head, right, vis-à-vis bust of Prince / Incuse of obverse. Cf. SNS type VIIc(1)/5a(1a), Style A (for prototype); cf. Sunrise 789 (same); Zeno –. Lightly toned, two holes for suspension. VF. Apparently unique and an item of cross-cultural interest. |
