Laureate and draped bust right / DACIA in exergue, S C across field, Dacia seated left on rock pile, holding signum (standard) in right hand and falx (curved sword) over left shoulder. RIC II.3 1650; RIC II 849; Banti 237. Brown surfaces, flan crack, rim bump. Near VF.

This sestertius, part of Hadrian’s “Travel Series,” celebrates the recently conquered province of Dacia by depicting a male personification holding a Roman military standard and the deadly Dacian falx, a curved two-handed sword.
