KINGS of MACEDON. Perseus. 179-168 BC. AR Tetradrachm (33mm, 15.01 g, 12h). Reduced standard. Pella or Amphipolis mint; Au-, mintmaster. Struck circa 171-168 BC. Diademed head right / Eagle, wings spread, standing right on thunderbolt; MA monogram above, AY (mintmaster’s) monogram to right, ΛΩ monogram between legs; all within oak wreath; below, plow left. Mamroth, Perseus 18b var. (different bottom monogram) and 20b, 22, and 26 var. (different top monogram); HGC 3, 1094. Struck on a broad flan, signs of light scraping in left obverse field. In NGC encapsulation 5872733-035, graded AU, Strike: 5/5, Surface: 2/5, lt. smoothing, brushed.
