Kanishka standing left, holding goad and standard, sacrificing over altar; flame at shoulder / Standing Śākyamuni Buddha: Buddha standing facing, hand raised in gesture of abhayamudrā; tamgha to left.. Cribb, Buddha 36 (dies f/13); MK –, but cf. 785-6; cf. ANS Kushan 616; cf. Donum Burns 175; Zeno –. Green and brown patina, slightly chipped, light cleaning marks . Fine. Second known example of this extremely rare die combination, the other example in the Hirayama Collection. |
