KINGS of MACEDON. Antigonos I Monophthalmos. As Strategos of Asia, 320-306/5 BC. AR Drachm (17mm, 4.22 g, 6h). In the name and types of Alexander III. Sardes mint. Struck circa 319/8-315 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; monogram in left field; below throne, Δ above strut, monogram below. Price 2685 corr. (monogram in left field); ADM I Series XX, 402 corr. (monogram; same dies). Lightly toned, small marks and flan flaw on obverse. Good VF.

For this issue (Price 2685), Price referenced ADM I 402, a coin in the ANS from the Armenak hoard. On that coin, the left field control was mostly off the flan, and the assumed reading of a K-within-closed-omega is incorrect, as proven by this coin, from the same dies. Interestingly, Charles Hersh appears to have conflated an example of Price 2686 with this issue when he listed a correction to the control marks below the throne, and asserted the K-within-closed-omega reading of the left field control (cf. Hersh, Corrections 125).
