HENR · III R · CHRIST · MARIA · AVGVSTA ·, jugate half-length busts of Henri, armored and draped, and Maria, wearing ruff, right / · PROPAGO · IMPERI · , Henri, in guise of Mars, standing right, holding long scepter and clasping hands with Marie, in guise of Minerva, standing left, holding shield; at center, Cherub standing left, resting foor on dolphin and holding plumed helmet over head; above, eagle descending bearing crown in beak; 1603 in exergue. Edge engraved: CONCORDIA + RES + PARVÆ + CRESCVNT + DISCORD * MAGNA * DILABVNTVR. Jones II 15. Toned, cast and chased as made, a few scratches. VF. Interesting edge inscription.

Henri was so impressed with this type that he granted Dupré a patent authorizing the medallist to reproduce and sell it in any way and any quantity he wished. Dupré evidently produced a number of variations. The quality of the casting and the presence of the edge engraving suggest that this may be a contemporary cast.
