SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 17.22 g, 10h). Struck circa 450 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand and reins in both, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with wreath held in both hands; in exergue, ketos right / Head of Arethousa right, wearing pearl tainia, hoop earring with small pendant, and pearl necklace; four dolphins swimming around. Boehringer Series XV, 514 (V270/R365); HGC 2, 1311; BMC 83 (same obv. die); Bement 468 (same obv. die); Jameson 765 (same obv. die); de Luynes 1174 (same obv. die); McClean 2660 (same obv. die); Pozzi 578 (same obv. die). Old collection tone, flan flaw on obverse. VF. Well centered.
