Otacilia Severa. Augusta, AD 244-249. AR Antoninianus (22mm, 3.55 g, 12h). Rome mint, 4th officina. 6th emission of Philip I, AD 247. Draped bust right, wearing stephane and set on crescent / Concordia seated left, holding patera and double cornucopia. RIC IV 125c (Philip I); RSC 4. Good VF, toned, deposits.

From the Ken Bressett Collection. Ex Dorchester hoard; Joe Powers 1950 @ $2.

The Dorchester hoard was found in Dorchester England in 1936 and was the largest Roman coin find to have been discovered at the time. The hoard consisted of over 22,000 coins, mostly Antoniniani. Several thousand coins were kept by the British Museum and the Dorchester Museum. The remainder was dispersed into the market by Seaby Coins
