ISAACUS NEWTONUS ., draped bust facing slightly right / Monument to Isaac Newton in Westminster Abbey: Newton, resting arm on stack of books, reclining left on claw-footed plinth decorated with scene of figures engaged in various arts; two geni holding scroll behind; above, allegorical figure of Astronmy, holding scepter, seated atop celestial globe; all before mantled pyramid atop orbs; base inscribed NAT · 1642 ·/ M · 1726 ·.
