SELEUKID EMPIRE. Demetrios I Soter. 162-150 BC. AR Tetradrachm (29.5mm, 16.75 g, 9h). Ekbatana mint. Diademed head right within laurel wreath / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ∆HMHTPIOY ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ, Apollo, testing arrow and placing hand on grounded bow, seated left on omphalos; to inner left, above arm, KΛ oriented vertically; to outer right, ΣΛ(?) oriented vertically. Unpublished. Toned, a few light scratches, deposits on reverse, double struck on reverse. VF. Apparently unique.

Although this issue is unpublished, and the style is common to a variety of mints in the east, the vertically-oriented ˚¬ control is present on some drachm issues securely attributed to Ekbatana. None of the eastern mints are known to have a wreath border on the obverse, which may be influenced by the use of that element on issues at Antioch on the Orontes.
