Vespasian. AD 69-79. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.38 g, 6h). “Judaea Capta” commemorative. Rome mint. Struck circa 21 December AD 69-early 70. Laureate head right / [I]VDAEA in exergue, trophy; to right, Judaea seated right in attitude of mourning, head resting in hand. RIC II.1 2; Hendin 6509; RSC 226. Toned, minor marks and a little roughness, traces of deposits. Good VF. Well struck reverse.

From the DMS Collection, purchased from Jonathan K. Kern, 10 August 2012. Lot includes an old handwritten ticket (priced in French Francs?).
