KINGS of MACEDON. temp. Philip III – Lysimachos. Circa 323-280 BC. AR Drachm (16mm, 4.28 g, 12h). In the name and types of Alexander III. Uncertain mint in western Asia Minor. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; monogram in left field, two stars below throne. Price P-O(1), 382 (“not seen”) = A. Prokesch von Osten, “Liste des Alexandres de ma collection qui ne se trouvent pas dans le catalogue de Mr. L. Müller” in NZ 1 (1869), 382 = Berlin obv. no. 18254430 (same dies); Seleucus I Hoard 1689. Lightly toned, some die wear, minor metal flaw, a little off center on obverse. Good VF. Extremely rare, only the Berlin and Seleucus Hoard coins published, none in CoinArchives.
