KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 14.36 g, 1h). In the name and types of Philip II. Amphipolis mint. Struck circa 336-333/26 BC. Laureate head of Zeus right / Youth on horseback right, holding palm frond; stern below raised foreleg. Le Rider Group II B, 351 (D175/R307) = SNG ANS 527 (same dies). Toned, with some iridescence and underlying luster. Good VF. From the first coinage of Alexander struck at Amphipolis.
