KINGS of MACEDON. Antigonos I Monophthalmos. As Strategos of Asia, 320-306/5 BC, or king, 306/5-301 BC. AR Drachm (17mm, 4.26 g, 12h). In the name and types of Alexander III. Abydos mint. Struck circa 310-301 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, monogram above prow left; kerykeion to outer right. Price 1542 var. (no kerykeion); ADM II Series XV, unlisted variety. Die wear, some marks. VF. Extremely rare.

This coin may actually be a correction to Price 1542. It appears that all examples of Price 1540–7 should have the kerykeion in the right field. Price 1543 actually does not exist, as the Hersh coin he references (now BM 2002.0101.346) actually is from the same reverse die as Winterthur 1553, which is Price’s reference for 1541A. The kerykeion on the Hersh coin was simply not visible, and the die link previously missed. As such, Price 1542 is the only entry in the series remaining without the kerykeion, but the missing ANS example that he referenced makes it impossible to verify, and the presence of they kerykeion here suggests that, like the Hersh piece, the symbol simply may not have been visible. No example of Price 1542 exists in Pella, and none are in CoinArchives.
