Nero. AD 54-68. Æ As (26mm, 8.99 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck circa AD 65. Laureate head right / Temple of Janus with latticed windows to left and closed double doors to right. RIC I 306; WCN 288. Rough green-brown surfaces. VF.

From the Joshua Lee Collection, purchased from Aventine Numismatics. Ex Antonio Carmona Collection (Roma E-85, 17 June 2021), lot 1582 (where it was catalogued as “an apparently unpublished hybrid.” The cataloguer must have thought that the patch of roughness was a globe at the point of the neck, characteristic of Lugdunum mint bronzes).
