From the Richard A. Jourdan Collection of Medieval European Coins, purchased from Andy Singer.

‘Ferrante made full use of his coins for propagada purposes. The earliest carlini (gigliati) are of the traditional style, with the seated figure of the king, but these were soon replaced by ones having on the reverse a representation of his coronation by the papal legate Cardinal Orsini at Barletta on 11 February 1459, thus underlining the successful conclusion of his fight for recognition at the beginning of his reign.’ Grierson, p.186.
