From the RH Collection.

This muling of two Troy, New York store cards is properly part of the Canadian blacksmith series, as it is struck on low weight planchets. The reverse die has been recut since it’s use in New York. Two varieties are known, predicated on the weight and die axis:

BL-47A1 – Thick flan. Weights from 7.3-11.5 g. Die axis 6h.
BL-47A2 – Thin flan. Weights from 3.2-6.7 g. Die axis 3h.

The present example falls just between the two, and has been cataloged here as a ‘thick’ flan. The dies axis, however, is between 4h and 5h, more consistent with the ‘thin’ flan.
